INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATIONS

Ready to show off your red, white and blue?! Here are the local events going on to help you celebrate this great holiday! Remember, whatever you are doing, have fun and be safe! Happy Independence Day!

 

Andrews:

July 4th Celebration, Thursday, July 4th

July 4th Celebration returns this year with a day of activities for everyone! Come see the 50th Annual Turtle Races, swim for FREE at Andrews Splash Park, enjoy a watermelon eating contest or a pie eating contest! You can also get in on the tournament action for horseshoes, washers or 3 on 3 basketball! Other activities include zip lines, rock climbing walls, knocker balls, a mechanical bull, and more! Don’t forget your face painting and snow cones! Food, vendors, and tons of family fun! Activities start at 10:00am! And of course, the celebration wouldn’t be complete without a fantastic fireworks show at dusk!

Big Spring:

Pops in the Park, Wednesday, July 3rd

The Pops in the Park mission is to give back to those who have served our country and pay tribute to them for their selfless sacrifice as well as the sacrifices of their families. Pops in the Park is held in the Comanche Trail Amphitheater and the gates will open at 5:00pm. The live music pre-show this year will go on at 6:00pm. The Presentation of Colors, salute to Armed Forces, and Retiring of the colors will follow the pre-show; followed by a video tribute honoring the local men and women who serve our country. The finale of the event is the amazing fireworks accompanied by the Big Spring Symphony and Chorus.

Kermit:

Party at the Park Firework Extravaganza, Thursday, July 4th

Everyone can come out and enjoy the fun, games, food and listen to music all day! Start with FREE swimming at the pool from 12:00noon until 5pm. At 4:00pm the Parade starts, followed by a sand volleyball tournament, an egg toss, a cornhole tournament, a pickle eating contest, potato sack races, tug-o-war, water balloon toss, and so much more! At 9:00pm there will be a ceremony with the Color Guard and National Anthem followed by a huge fireworks display!

Lamesa:

Independence Day Celebration, Thursday, July 4th

The Independence Day Celebration is a celebration of community and patriotism. Come start the day off with a 5K and 1 mile run, followed by a Parade on the Square. Other activities throughout the day include a Kickball Tournament, Chili Cook-Off, Team roping, Classic Car Show, and much more. And be sure not to miss the Mr. & Mrs. Firecracker Pageant! Plenty of vendors, live entertainment, and a great end of the night with an amazing fireworks display!

Midland:

Star-Spangled Salute, Thursday, July 4th

The Star-Spangled Salute is a celebration of community and patriotism. Each Fourth of July, patrons can enjoy activities from morning to night. The day begins with the annual Children’s sidewalk parade. Throughout the day, patrons can enjoy delicious treats and eats along vendor row. Evening activities include the popular family fun zone, a variety concert, and, for the adults – we even have a beer garden. The evening culminates in the grand finale – patrons watch as the West Texas sky lights up with a spectacular firework display.

Monahans:

Freedom Festival 2018, Thursday, July 4th

The Freedom Festival will be held on July 4, 2019. There will be many craft and food booths located throughout park. The activities will include Miss Monahans contest, blistering sands bike tour, free swimming, live entertainment, watermelon seed spittin’ contest, water balloon toss, turtle races, fireworks and much more. Hours: 9am-Dusk

Odessa:

Firecracker Fandango, Thursday, July 4th

Firecracker Fandango is Odessa’s longest-running patriotic street festival and one of Downtown Odessa, Inc.’s largest fundraisers of the year. All sponsorship dollars go toward event costs and 100% of profit from the event funds revitalization projects for Downtown Odessa.

Festivities start at 5 p.m., when the gates for the 24th annual Firecracker Fandango will open. This FREE family-friendly street festival features live bands and entertainment, children’s activities, , a classic car show, food trucks and much more!

The highlight of the evening will be a professional fireworks display, which is choreographed to patriotic music. The fireworks are launched over Downtown Odessa and viewed annually by more than 40,000 people.
