Derrick Russell

So this weekend I drove home to visit my folks for my mom's birthday.  I decided to bring my laundry with me half out of convenience and half because I still haven't found the laundry room in my new apartment complex.  Also what make's a parents birthday better than having a child still need them for a basic life skill like laundry?

Now I did all the laundry myself, but what I didn't know was that my darling mother thought she would be her usual helpful self and take all my socks and actually sort and fold them instead of following my plan of throwing them all together into a big bag.

Yesterday when I'm packing up my car I see I have my big bag of socks without actually looking inside and hit the road.  The sad thing is my observation skills are apparently so bad I actually unpacked my clothes and still didn't realize I'd left my socks.  My mom calls me to ask why I'd left all my socks and I had no idea what she was talking about.  It took several minutes of conversation and me frantically looking in all my drawers for reality to sink in and that I would be sock less for the foreseeable future.

So if you see a guy buying a couple bags of socks this week or walking around in flip flops in the next rainstorm... that's probably just Derrick Russell and feel free to shake your head in shame.
