I'm a huge coffee fan. I'm an even bigger strong coffee fan.  And being from the south... I'm a huge Iced coffee fan.  Both because iced coffee is way more relaxing to drink on hot summer days and I've always felt iced coffee was stronger than hot brewed coffee.  I have no science to back that up... I just feel it in my coffee filled gut.

The downside of iced coffee is that it's always more expensive than regular coffee and a lot more complicated to make... or so I thought.  This weekend I finally decided to make my own iced coffee and it wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be.

Here's what you need:

Coffee grounds
Coffee filter
sealable container

and that's it.
After scrounging the interwebs for iced coffee recipes the easiest way to make it is something called the cold brew method.  All you do is take coffee grounds (coarse ground is apparently better but I used regular Folgers and it worked just find) put them in a closable container and fill it with water.  I left it at room temperature for a bit to let the water soak up the grounds and then left it in the refrigerator over night.  The next morning i just put a coffee filter over a glass filled with ice and poured my concoction into it.  Easy Peasy. Delicious and STRONG homemade Iced Coffee.

My first go around I obviously used to much coffee grounds because it was far and away the strongest coffee I'd ever had, and that's saying something coming from me.  I used about three times the grounds I would have making a comparable glass of hot coffee and that's way way too much.  Next time I'll use the same amount as I would for my hot brew and see if it's a lot weaker or not.

I highly recommend this for iced coffee fans, it's way cheaper than Starbucks and even 7-11 or McDonalds iced coffee, once you get the ratio of water and grounds right you can control how strong you want it and it would go great with chocolate syrup or any other fancy flavorings you would want to add.
