| THE BAND PERRY SAY CMA NOD WAS A 'SHOCKER' |
The Band Perry are still coming to grips with the reality that they are nominated for their very first CMA award. The sibling trio were blindsided by the good news while en route to a show last week, as Reid, Kimberly and Neil Perry tell us: "(Reid) Shocker! (Kimberly) It was surprising on a few levels. I mean, we didn't really know that the CMA nominations were being announced on that particular morning, and last week we were in the Charlotte airport eating a piece of pepperoni pizza at 9:30 in the morning and our radio regional was out with us -- we were flying to do a show in South Carolina -- and she calls our cell phones. She's just sort of in this frenzy and she's so excited. She's like, 'Where are you guys? Where are you guys?' I was like, 'Did we miss our flight?' (Neil) 'We've got a show tonight that we're doing. . . ' (Kimberly) She's like, 'No, the CMA nominations just came through and you guys are up for Vocal Group of the Year,' and we were silent and I think Neil goes, (Neil) 'Are you sure?' (Kimberly) 'Are you sure?' (laughter)." Kimberly says it's mind-boggling to think of being up for the same award as some of their musical heroes. "I think we're gonna demand a re-count cause there's just no way that we should really be in that category (Neil) the little Band Perry (Kimberly) And we're just so in love with the other artists, from Rascal Flatts to Zac Brown Band, Lady A and Little Big Town. We're friends with a lot of those guys and are fans of theirs, so we're just really, really honored to be welcomed into the family and the fold." The CMA Awards will be held in Nashville on November 10th. The Band Perry's self-titled debut album will be released on October 12th. It includes their current hit, "If I Die Young." | KEITH URBAN CELEBRATES 'LOVELY' FATHER'S DAY . . . ON LABOR DAY |
![]() For Keith Urban, Father's Day came on Labor Day (Monday, September 6th). The singer decided to hold off on the June holiday when he discovered it landed on his wife, Nicole Kidman's, birthday this year. Instead, the couple opted to celebrate the occasion on Australia's Father's Day, which fell on September 5th. Even that didn't quite work out, but nevertheless, Keith tells us it wound up being a very special day. "(I) ended up having it on Labor Day because I was working on Sunday, and I was working Saturday night, which technically is Sunday in Australia, so it gets very confusing, but I got some beautiful cards, one from Nic and one from Sunny and a beautiful, beautiful big painting of this heart that Nic found for me that was lovely! (It was) a lovely, lovely Father's Day!" Keith is putting the finishing touches on his new CD, called Get Closer. The project will be in stores on November 16th. The debut single, called "Put You In A Song," heads to radio next week. It was co-written by Keith, Sarah Buxton and Jedd Hughes. AUDIO: KEITH URBAN ON CELEBRATING FATHER'S DAY ON LABOR DAY |
