Where is Texas Country music the biggest? Would it surprise you to know that it's in the state of Texas?
No it probably wouldn't, but where in Texas is Texas Country music thriving? As a guy from North East Texas I knew Texas Country was a nice sub genre of Country but didn't really get that into it until I moved out here and Kelley Peterson gave me a giant stack of CD's to listen through... now I'm an avid fan. But since Texas Country Music is much bigger out here in West Texas than in my home area it got me to thinking... where is Texas Country the biggest?
Geeky fun fact: Google keeps track of what phrases people search for and where they are searching... phrases that people continuously search for become trends... and you can go back years and see how certain words and phrases gained or lost popularity.
Here is where it gets fun (fun being a relative term) A chart that breaks down where Texas Country is most popular in the State of Texas...
Texas Country is biggest in San Angelo... but Midland-Odessa isn't that far behind... but it gets less popular the closer you get to the edge of Texas... places like where I grew up.
So if you have friends out further north or east... be the cool friend that knows all the best bands to listen to, let people know about the likes of Aaron Watson or Granger Smith. Share Texas Country music with the less fortunate because I'm guessing they will figure out just as quick as I did that Texas Country is a lot better than pretty much anything else that is out there.
