IT'S THE 90'S!!!

Want to feel nostalgic about a decade that was technically 15 years ago but still feels like it ended maybe a few months ago? Then check out this supercut of 90's characters talking about the decade like they are already living in the future... as we actually watch them from the future. Check out 90's Icons like Fresh Prince and Buffy the Vampire Slayer all discuss that most post modern of past decades. And think, somebody sat around and watched a whole bunch of 90's pop culture media to get these clips and put it on the internet... that must have been the best day ever!

SUPER HERO TV SHOWS ARE AWESOME

I Love Super Heroes. I read a lot of comic books growing up and could give you detailed back stories on almost every single major DC and Marvel Super Hero. That used to be a pretty geeky thing to say, but it's not anymore. Now comic book based movies are the major blockbusters every year and after each one I get calls or texts from friends and family asking hey who was that one guy, or what is the secret about here. That because comic books never stop. Every month there is a new issue with new story points, new characters, new gadgets that add detail to what already exists. That's why Marvel can make 4 Iron Man films plus all the Avenger movies and their individual spin offs and still not be close to running out of material. I remember seeing the first X-Men film in the theater almost 15 years ago and thinking yea that was awesome but Super Hero movies can't ever become a regular thing.

Well I was really really wrong.

But now the movies have made Super Heroes cool... and that means we get primetime TV Shows based off of them. Currently on air (not including all the many many shows in development) across various channels you can watch GOTHAM (a prequel to Batman that follows a young Jim Gordon rising through Gotham Police) MARVEL: AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D (which follows the events of what is happening between Avenger films). ARROW (which is an amazing show that follows a relatively unknown DC hero the Green Arrow as he fights to protect corrupt city) and my new favorite which just premiered Tuesday night... THE FLASH. The Flash was and is my favorite Super Hero. The Flash is great because he could fight bad guys and crack jokes at the same time. He could race Superman around the world and take a break to tap Batman on the shoulder and say 'made you look.' I highly recommend you check it out and at least peruse the others. I prefer the Super Hero TV Show over the Movie because every movie has to end, usually in a big huge battle that wraps everything up nicely. Comic Books don't do that, characters leave and come back... events build for long periods of time making your more and more nervous and excited for what is about to happen. The TV format allows for that same thing, and even if you aren't invested in it, just like comic books you can check in every few issues/episodes and see what your favorite characters are up to. And if you do start watching a Super Hero TV Show and have any questions about who that one guy is or what that secret is about... call the KICKS line and I'll gladly fill you in.

btw here is the trailer for THE FLASH... seriously, I love this show already.

ROLLING STONE'S 40 SADDEST COUNTRY SONGS

Last week Rolling Stone Magazine released one of their perennial lists, but instead of a "Greatest" list this time it was the 40 Saddest Country Songs of All Time. And they really mean of All Time.  The list includes everything from Lee Brice's relatively recent "I Drive Your Truck" to the old Honky-Tonk crooner Faron Young and his song "Hello Walls." It even includes some gems that I hadn't heard in a long long time like Pirates of the Missippi's "Feed Jake."  Rolling Stone describes the list as saying 'Like no other musical genre, country stories of loss and heartbreak turn the old "tear in my beer" cliché into a sad, salty reality.'  Well said Rolling Stone.
But of course like any list you want to know what topped it.  What do they think is the Saddest Country Song of All Time? A song that contains the lyrics "she hides the bruises with linen and lace"  Martina McBride's "Concrete Angel"

WATCH DIERKS BENTLEY BE SAD BUT ALSO BE REALLY COOL

Dierks Bentley has a new single and a new music video to go with it.  The song is "Say You Do"  and it is a bit of a heartbreak ballad. The opening lyrics are "Don't worry about the damage done, Just let those words roll off your tongue."  In the song Dierks is trying to come to terms with a either a really bad recent argument, or a complete break up.  But according to the music video Dierks mourning process is as about as epic and manly as I can imagine.  He flies a plane to the middle of nowhere, then rides a motorcycle to a cabin further in nowhere, and drinks whiskey and chops wood until he comes to terms with everything.  What? What! Who does that Dierks?  Who are you?  I want my entire life to be what you do for a day after an argument.  Seriously I'm trying to feel for you, it's a beautiful song but all I can think of is how cool your motorcycle is.  IT IS A REALLY COOL MOTORCYCLE.  How do you keep it so clean stashed in the woods?  Where do you gas it up at?  Do you make bio-diesel when you aren't sad about stuff?  Did you build a cabin far away from the water solely so you could drive your motorcycle there?

Watch the video for yourself below.  Fun Fact:  Dierks Bentley is a licensed pilot so that is definitely him really flying at the beginning (Puts Drunk on a Plane in perspective doesn't it?)
