The events last week in Boston & West, TX were shocking, unbelievable & frightening. So many innocent people affected by a random act of hate & a random disastrous situation. There have been far too many instances of these kinds of tragedies in recent months. I love these words from Mr. Rogers...
"When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, "Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping." To this day, especially in times of "disaster," I remember my mother's words and I am always comforted by realizing that there are still so many helpers – so many caring people in this world."
The one thing I try to take away from tragic events is "perspective"... No matter how much stress I think that I'm under, I'm blessed to have a job, home & family to cause me stress. No matter how much I dislike the traffic lately, I'm blessed to have a car & a place to go. The fact is, I'm blessed... that doesn't mean that I won't have tough times, but what I do with those tough days is up to me. The resilience & faith that we've all seen from the people of Boston & West, TX is a testament. I hope I can learn from them.
