Over the Labor Day weekend, I came across something in the book I was reading that really resonated with me. Paraphrasing here: In the bad times in your marriage, you have to wake up each day and make the decision to stay, and if you can’t make that decision decide to do nothing. That may be the best advice I have ever read about marriage.
Mike and I have been married for over 20 years (our anniversary is this Friday!) and it hasn’t always been smooth sailing. It never is when two stubborn, creative people butt heads. However, I know there were times over the last 22 years when either Mike or I had to actually DECIDE to stay and work things out and sometimes we just did nothing and let time work things out for us.
Marry your best friend, decide to stay EVERY day, respect each other and laugh…A LOT. Oops, I almost forgot the most important thing…PRAY.
