"Thoughts From A Sleep Deprived Mind"

I used to think losing weight was the hardest thing in the world to do.  I was wrong.  KEEPING it off is the hardest thing in the world to do!  I went on a great program to lose weight after my birthday in August.  I lost 40 pounds.  It wasn’t easy…but it really feels great to be so much lighter.  However, I have been working to keep it off since just before Thanksgiving…and THAT has been the real lesson in weight loss.
I will tell you all how I lost it when I get the clearance to do so…for now, let me just say it has been a great journey and a fantastic learning experience!  I have discovered that it is not enough to lose the weight.  You have to learn self-discipline, stay motivated, and get rid of ALL of your “fat clothes”.  You also need to get on the scale every morning and don’t let yourself gain more than 2 pounds.  All of this is so much easier said than done!
Finally, it is better if you keep your diet to yourself.  I have found that people start watching what I eat FOR me if they know I am dieting.  I hate this.  I would prefer to be offered something so I can turn it down.  If you start telling me I CAN’T have something THEN I really want it…even if I don’t.  Make losing weight something you do just for yourself.  And if you need to do something to keep your mind off of food…clean out your closet!
