HOW BIG IS THE WARDROBE AGAIN?
Tuesday, I promised you (and myself) that I was going to try to pare my clothes down enough to fit into a traditional European wardrobe. It’s not there yet.
I went home and spent hours in my closet. I tried EVERYTHING on! What didn’t fit, fit but looked horrible on me, and all the “what was I thinking?” clothes went into big bags for charity. There are 8 huge bags of clothes! OMG!!!!
I had four pair of slacks that fit but needed hemming. I spent two hours hemming and ironing these last night! Out of an entire rack of jeans…I have 3 pair left. Admittedly, I was brutal about weeding these out.
And through the process, I have learned a couple of things. When you buy clothes online, limit yourself to tops in colors you KNOW work for you. Pants and blazers absolutely HAVE to be tried on first or you will end up with a bunch of clothes that you will never wear (trust me). Beloved, stylish, comfortable shoes are really hard to part with, even if they are truly worn out.
It feels great to know that all the clothes left in my closet are clothes that I can actually wear! Now I have to figure out what of those I actually NEED. I will keep you posted!
